WED. 17TH APRIL LESSON

Yesterday we did several speaking activities to practise the use of REPORTED SPEECH.

We then finished Unit 11C (p. 100-101) doing the reading there, explaining the other REPORTING VERBS apart from ASK/SAY/TELL and did the Listening (ex. 6).

We'll not come back until Monday 29th, so try to do as much as you can these days (listening, recordings, grammar etc.)

You can do Workbook p. 62+63+65 and also p. 26 dossier (I'll send you the key by email so you can check it on your own).

When coming back let me know if you have any doubts and we'll keep practising LISTENING + SPEAKING , mainly.

MONDAY 15TH APRIL LESSON

Today we have explained REPORTED SPEECH (Unit 11B- p. 98-99), and we've been doing ex. 1+ 3+4+ 5+6.(SPEAKING/LISTENING/GRAMMAR)

We then have seen a short video clip from the film WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING and have reported some sentences. Check THIS WEBPAGE were you can find plenty of activities using videos to practise many grammar structures.

For Wednesday, please red the text on p. 100 and do ex. 2.

We'll continue and finish reported speech and practise speaking.

WED. 10TH APRIL LESSON

Yesterday we explained the use of QUANTIFIERS (EVERY/EACH/NOEN OF/BOTH OF/ANY OF/ENITHER OF/ NEITHER OF....) and corrected ex. p. 91 and checked the ones in the workbook as well.

We then moved onto Unit 11 (p. 96+98) and did both Listening activities and talked about business and vocabulary related to the topic.

                                                                                                          
Next week we'll review REPORTED SPEECH and almost finish the course with that.

Homework for next week is to do the writing and/or recording I told you before Easter holidays!!!!

WED. 27TH MARCH LESSON + HOMEWORK

Well, yesterday we practised the structures HAVE STH DONE/ GET SBDY TO DO STH FOR YOU/ DO THG YOURSELF doing the speaking on p. 23 dossier.

We then corrected p. 43 dossier and checked p. 55 in the Workbook.

Finally, we did a speaking activity about gender roles and finished with that.

Next lesson will be on Wed. 10th April, so until then, here you have a few things to do :

- STUDENT'S BOOK- p. 91- Read the grammar about QUANTIFIERS (P. 149) and do ex. 4+5+6
- WORKBOOK: p. 56 ex. 3+4, p. 57 (QUANTIFIERS) + 58 (reading)
- WRITE A LETTER OF COMPLAINT: Taking as reference the email you have on p. 43 dossier and this LINK where you can find info about how to write a letter of complaint, imagine there's something wrong in your house or with your car and complain to the company that did the work for you.

- EXTRA WRITING: Those of you that need to practise writing, remember that you can summarize any of the texts on p. 90/92 and give your opinion about it.

- SPEAKING: For those of you that need to practise speaking, try to record yourselves doing a monologue about men vs. women (stereotypes, roles, equility etc..)

MOND. 25TH MARCH LESSON

Yesterday we talked about MEN and WOMEN stereotypes and differences. We read the texts on p. 90+92 and watched a video about equality nowadays, and we then discussed about it.

WED. 20TH LESSON + HOMEWORK

Apart from the allergy, I hope today you're feeling the spring!!! 

Well, with all this energy that spring has brought, yesterday we did:
1. Speaking about past events and future plans and suggestions- more or less jejejeje
2. We checked Unit 9 in the workbook
3. Passive (p. 85 ex. 2)
4. We moved onto Unit 10A and reviewed the structures:
    - DO STH YOURSELF
    - HAVE STH DONE
    - GET SBDY TO DO STH FOR YOU

We checked the vocabulary (ex. 1- p. 88), did the Listening and explained how to use these structures and practised them (ex. 6 + SPEAKING EX. 7).

WED. 13TH LESSON + HOMEWORK

Hi everybody,
Yesterday we did a lot of things ....
- we corrected dossier p. 42 (voc. + so/such/like/as..)
- we did a short speaking activity (quick review- p. 82)
- after that, the LISTENING p. 82- ex. 2 about art
- then, we tried to guess what the text on p. 83 was about by looking at this pic (WORD MAP) and quickly read the text and talked about it.
- we, then , moved onto Unit 9D and did the Listening p. 84 (ex. 1+2+3+6) and prepared and performed A DIALOGUE practising the expressions to suggest, say you're free or that you don't mind what to do. (EXAM PRACTICE).
- finally, we did a short exercise on HOW TO WRITE A REPORT (I'll send you the copy by email).

HOMEWORK FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY:
- Read text p. 83- ex. 5+6 (I'll send you the key by email)
- Do REVIEW p. 85 - ex. 2+3+4 (I'll send you the key by email)
- WORKBOOK: p. 52+53+54 (you have the key)

FINALLY...HERE I LEAVE YOU THE RECIPE OF 'BUÑUELOS' IN ENGLISH....just in case anybody feels like preparing them for next Wednesday  HAVE A NICE LONG WEEKEND!!!

3 1/3 c. regular all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
Salad oil for deep frying
Cinnamon coating

Sift flour, measure, then sift again with salt, baking powder, and sugar into a bowl. Add butter and rub into flour with your fingertips until mixture is like coarse meal. Beat eggs lightly with milk, then pour into flour mixture and stir until dough forms a solid mass. Turn dough out onto board, and knead lightly for 2 minutes or until smooth. Cut dough into balls the size of marbles and let stand 15 minutes.
Roll each ball on a lightly floured board into a very thin pancake 4 inches in diameter. Cut a hole in center with a thimble. After rolling out the circles of dough, place them in a single layer on waxed paper until ready to cook.

Fry in hot deep fat (375 degrees) until puffed and golden brown, about 30 seconds on each side. Drain on paper towels. Use following coating. Makes 6 dozen sugar-coated Bunuelos.

Mix 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. As Bunuelos are still warm, shake in sugar mixture. Works well with one person frying and one shaking in sugar mixture.Hope this helps!!

I have opened a WIKI  and I've sent you an invitation by email to join it so you can write your film review for your classmates to guess which film is being described. 

I think you have to open an account to participate in it. If you have any problem send me an email. 

Below I have copied the text that you will see on the wiki, and you have to start writing from it on, you could also see your partners contribution and I want you to try to guess any of the films your classmates are describing.

This is a shared space for everybody to write the description of a film that your classmates will have to guess.

WED. 6TH MATCH LESSON

Yesterday we practised CINEMA AND ENTERTAINMENT VOCABULARY by doing the crosssword on the dossier p. 22. We talked about films and the adjectives to describe them (Unit 9B)

We then did a listening about a film critic that talks about a film and did several SPEAKING ACTIVITIES about cinema and  TV programmes.

On Monday remember that we'll check doubts in WORKBOOK (P. 49-50-51)

MOND. 4TH MARCH LESSON + HOMEWORK

Yesterday we started doing a SPEAKING activity about entertainment, then finished Unit 9A and corrected ex. 6 + dossier p. 41, reviewed the Passive structure by doing a dominoe and started Unit 9B introducing vocabulary to describe films. We did ex. 1+ 2 + 3 (p. 80).

For Wednesday you don't have to do anything, just have a look at the grammar explanation about LIKE/AS/SO/SUCH/ SUCH AS (p. 146).

For next Monday, Workbook p. 49 +50+51 (Units 9A+9B)

WED. 27TH FEB. LESSON + HOMEWORK

Yesterday we almost finished Unit 9A (we checked the writing on p. 79 and ex. 2), reviewed the form and use of the Passsive structure and practised SPEAKING by doing a questonnaire (p. 118+121) and playing a game to review vocabulary and passive sentences.

MONDAY 25TH FEB. LESSON + HOMEWORK

Yesterday we started Unit 9A (p. 78-79) and did several speaking activities (including ex. 1- p. 78) reviewing vocabulary related to the topic.

We then checked and corrected the exam.

For WEDNESDAY, please read the grammar on p. 146 (The Passive) and do ex. 4 on p. 78 and read the text about The Oscars on p. 79.

LISTENING PRACTICE: If you want to listen and do exercises related to the topic MOVIES, click HERE to do a game (you have to guess the film after listening to the film review). Yesterday we .....
- started talking about the recent news (Pope's resignation, house's evictions, horsemeat in hamburguers, corruption etc.)
- we then checked doubts in the use of WISH (copy I gave you)
- after that, we practised WISH in present and past (SPEAKING p. 72- ex. 7)
- we then checked vocabulary related to MONEY (workbook Unit 8B)

Finally we did a review- LISTENING + SPEAKING.
I've just sent you the READING with the key by email to do it at home.

We finished watching a video about LOVE as today is SAINT VALENTINE!!! Enjoy it!!!

MONDAY 11TH FEB. LESSONS + HOMEWORK

Hello everybody!!

Yesterday we:

- Reviewed the use of WISH + SIMPLE PAST and corrected ex. 5 (p. 71) 

- We did the SPEAKING ACTIVITY (dossier p. 20) to practise the structure once again

- We then moved onto Unit 8B (p. 72-73) and explained the use of WISH + PAST PERFECT (SHOULD+ HAVE+ PAST PARTICIPLE) to talk about regrets in the past. We read the text on p. 72 and did ex. 4+6+8.

For Wednesday, I'll send you a doc by email with more exercises with the key to practise the use of WISH for present and past regrets. We'll check doubts on Wednesday and we'll practise reading, listening and speaking.

If you want to practise grammar, vocabulary and reading, you can do this exercises in the WORKBOOK:

- p. 48 ex. 3- review of relative clauses
